Clever-Clever Eyes studied looked up from his planning as one of his scouts came in, supporting a warrior under one arm. The other was badly wounded, her hand pressed to a bandage against her side. Clever-Clever Eyes looked shocked for a moment. "What are you doing with her here? Take her to the infirmary!"

The wounded rat, to his surprise, was the one who shook her head. When she looked up, he could see further wounds just below her eyes. "I... had to report. Our whole team was wiped out. I barely escaped. It was... it was the biggest of those creatures I've ever seen. Strong-strong, too. Like one of our grand-grand buildings," she said, before coughing and falling more limp against her supporter. "We can't-can't send more people against that thing as is. It's suicide."

Clever-Clever Eyes scowled and his whiskers twitched. "Go, rest for now."

One of the warriors with him looked worried. "We should fall back. There's no way we can hold this position."

He shook his head. "We got word of reinforcements from the northern provinces. We can hold until they get here. Sending people from far-far away... it might be someone who can help."

The warrior shook his head. "We can only hope."

Kyosei actually has been slowly carving the same piece for the last five years.

Mind you, making sure a piece of jade of that quality is done right is quite important.
