[Day 9 - EA] The Midnight Society

""'n' no yin kens howfur it dens." Koyama tuned in with a low-key, pleasant melody.

[Tyrus]

As the group walked through the inky blackness they eventually reach a spacious area within the cavern and at its center the weak light from their candles bounces off something. It looks to be a pool of water, Not overly large perhaps big enough for one or two people to stand in. It was difficult to tell much detail about it without getting pretty close.

[Doji Kaze]

Kaze immediately moves to the right of the group, the better to have an angle to throw at the pool if something should emerge.

[Nanzi]

Nanzi glanced to the priest and said, "What do the spirits say about this... water?"

[Tyrus]

Before the spirits can be consulted the water begins moving, roiling and waving about and slowly begins raising up.

While it shone like water it had a gelatinous consistency alien to you a blob of semi liquid. somehow despite its alien nature its body language was clear enough. it meant you great harm.

Koyama's melody got quiet as the gelatinous thing rose. Hatchet in hand, he was ready to test the durability of its existence the sharp way.

The ooze monster lunged forward toward the group it sprouted many tentacle like arms of water that whipped about violently.

Nanzi did not relent and struck with a quick if effective slash on the oil creature thing.

OOC: Nanzi hit for 17 wounds.

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

he made a small practiced incision on his left forearm with the obsidian blade in his right hand. A bright green light lances from his arm, striking the pool of water. If there is a Tainted form there, it might take some damage.

[Tyrus]

Nanzi's blade passed through the creature with minimal resistance only slowing it seemed to have some effect of the creature but surely nothing like it would a normal skin and flesh being.

by contrast an intense bubbling sound was heard when the green colored light struck the ooze and it reeled away.

[Doji Kaze]

Just as quickly, Kaze's javelin flashed in the candlelight as it lanced out of the darkness and into the fell beast's side.

[Tyrus]

The spear sunk swiftly in and out of the beast coming back covered in glossy thick slime and there was a reaction from the monster but the strike wasn't nearly as devastating as it should have been.

the monsters tentacles whipped out and struck Nanzi rewarding him for his valor by wrapping around him. ensnaring him. Another tentacle whips out at the spear wielding doji with devastating effect whipping across him hard.

on your turn make a dc 20 strength/juijutsu roll if you fail the ooze draws you in you become enveloped in the creature. mechanically like being submerged in deep water with the exception that your stamina ring is considered one lower for the purpose of how long you can hold your breath. You may repeat the tn 20 strength/juijutsu roll on each turn until you escape. another player may use a complex action to try to pass a tn 20 strength/juijutsu test to pull the target out.

make a TN 15 earth roll or gain one point of taint. You get +10 to this roll if you are carrying jade

Nanzi gritted his teeth but thankfully was still able to resist the corrupting effect.

Seeing his fellow Kami consort and friend held, Koyama didn't have to think much, if it all. With a Highlander whistle that carried well across the cave, he hacked the tentacle.

It wasn't his best, but it looked like it was enough.

the hatchet passed through the tentacle and severed it the water splashed yo the ground leaving Nanzi covered in extremely viscous liquid but no longer in the monster's grasp.

[Nanzi]

Nanzi coughed and hacked and said, "Thanks..."

He gripped his jade necklace... he hoped the ratlings were right about what he was about to do.

[Nanzi]

Nanzi raised his blade as he stayed mobile on his feet and said, “This thing is hurt by jade…”

He scraped the edge of his blade along the jade finger as he stayed on the defensive.

OOC: Defensive stance so ATN is now 31 and using a Complex Action to apply Jade to his sword edge.
