Kyosei made a deeper cut with the obsidian knife trying to call the kami to hurl rocks of jade at the creature but the tainted nature of the area made the earth kami unresponsive.

The monster lashes back out at Nanzi whose defensive posture confused it and the tentacle narrowly missed.

then it turned its attention on the interloper who freed its prey it struck and tried to knockdown the warrior but it was likely distracted and the blow went a little wide.

The blow was scaled up in terms of brutality by a notch or two. Koyama was not learnt in arts of jade-coating, and so his solution was just more savagery.

The attack was savage and would have surely been enough to fell a normal man and plenty of that black ooze splashed around but the beast remained standing.

Nanzi weaved and then found an opening as Koyama struck true, his blade struck through into the tainted ooze creature and hoped the jade on the edge would make a difference if not then this was going to go bad very quickly!

OOC: Attack stance at ATN 25 and hits with Jade dust on the edge not sure how many strikes it will last, now down to .9 Jade.

Kyosei grit his teeth and cut himself again offering himself to the kami and another brilliant flash of green light exploded from his hands.

Kaze spends a complex action pulling his Yari off his back and getting ready to throw.

He takes a free 5' step back first, though. Can't be too careful.

Nanzi darted in and slashed the creature it bubbled angerly at him as the blade felt like it cut through more substantial matter.

The following jade strike from their shugenja caused a sizzling sound from the creature and bubbled frantically as it slowly shrank and got reduced to a bubbling pile of goo. The oppressive nature of the cave let up some and while it was not back to normal the group could tell they had excised some of the taint from this place.

Nanzi breathed hard and said, "Kaze-kun, are you okay?"

[Shinjo Koyama]

""Some guid swordsmanship thare, Nanzi." Kozan commented, looking if the goo was sticking to the hatchet. "But sorcery carried th' day." He nodded to Kyosei. ""What wis it even? Bathwother risen by awfy much grime?"

He glanced at the one not okay, named Kazekun. Strange name, Koyama thought.

[Nanzi]

"My blade was swift, Koyama-san, but it was the jade that made the difference. Nanzi is grateful for the support," he said making his way towards Kaze.

[Shinjo Koyama]

It looked like an ordinary flesh wound to Koyama, and such things regrew overnight, at least on him. So he focused on what was or wasn't in the cave, straining his senses in darkness.

[Doji Kaze]

Kaze steps out of the shadows, revealing the ugly welt that seemed to run from the right side of his jaw, down his neck and front.

"I...don't think I am alright, Nanzi-sama."

[Nanzi]

Nanzi frowned and said, "We must get you back to the camp."

[Doji Kaze]

"Hai, I think that would be best." He bowed to the shugenja and the Shinjo. "My thanks for your efforts against the beast. I would like to remain to speak with you longer, but it seems that I should...address this." He gestured to the welt, which was starting to look a little green around the edges. "Farewell."

He bowed again and made an /exit.

[Nanzi]

Nanzi followed Kaze.

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

Kyosei watched the pair go, then turned to the one that remained. He was slightly swaying, but seemed to be otherwise fine. "Do you happen ta have some cloths? My own 're back at ta camp."

He took some deep breaths as the combat ended, the adrenaline slowly dispersing.

"While ah'd like to study furt'er, ah think ah should get this looked at, yeah?" He had carefully put away his knife, and was trying to hold the skin of his left arm together. Not too worried, it appeared, for the candle clenched in that fist, dripping wax onto that hand.

[Shinjo Koyama]

Koyama passed Kyosei a piece of clean cloth, almost as an afterthought, just as he was studying the place.

"Seek yin o' mah ain, th' Ki-Rin, Jin or yin o' his disciples. They're guid at healing." He had somehow missed the moment when the Crane had departed.

other than a sense of foreboding and the strangely thick liquid that still clung to things in the cave it seems to be a normal cave brought about by however you believe caves are made. It is still pitch black without light but the light from the candles seems to burn a little brighter now that the monster was killed.
