Stop getting in my head!

Ok, she knew it was written all over her face. She knew it deep down. A close of the eyes and a laugh, and the intensity did flicker and fade a little bit. She wasn't a woman without willpower, and she wanted to be sure she wasn't just having a sudden and overwhelming urge or a thing to take her mind off of ... everything, and finding a holy man who could probably break her like a twig was a lot more of a distraction than she'd expected when they had first spoken.

She cleared her throat and allowed her hands to gradually reach back before taking a deep breath. "Actually... there's training we can do right now. I think... I need to practice patience, and meditation... I've seen people use it."

[Shinsei]

Shinsei laughed, a genuine, gentle laugh that helped to further dispel the tensions built up thus far. "All good things in their own time. Patience is a difficult thing to train, but is best done when the desire to act is strong. It is...a good time to exercise such a skill, yes."

Sitting up straighter, Shinsei turned to face Phi, legs crossed but relaxed, withdrawing his hands to his lap. There was no disappointment in his eyes or voice as he spoke; indeed he seemed happy to wait for future distractions, if that's what she wished.

"The first and most vital step is the breath. Air carries all things throughout us, and is the first thing to change with our thoughts and moods. In stabilizing it, we stabilize ourselves. Think upon your breath, steady it, and you will follow."

She attempted to adopt the same general posture that he was. She'd seen meditation since coming here. One or two, rarely, Hikaru practiced something like it for those really long and arduous attempts at outwaiting various game or staking out a particularly adept group of caravan guards for a raid. They were rare ones, but she'd seen it so she could at least attempt the seat.

When she breathed in, considering what she was attempting to do? It was... well, at least a sign that she could get the breathing exercise itself correct. Barely. Her breath was slow, steady, a sign of someone in excellent health, but not as deep or as even as it could have been. And, she was admittedly a bit ... distracted still.

Shinsei nodded, but kept silent until it was obvious Phi had reached the limit of her patience and begun drifting back to her surroundings. "Very good, very good. Distractions from the outside world are plentiful. Do not despair with falling prey to them. Merely breathe, once again, and begin to relax as you did before..."

She wasn't going to despair of her distractions at the moment. Just a better way to learn. And she really needed to get her emotions under control right then.
