While going about her business... honestly, Phi didn't have that much business to really conduct at the moment. They were actually having what almost amounted to a quiet moment in their lives before thing went inevitably to hell in a handbasket. While nevertheless trying to go about her business for the day, she was watching and keeping something of a guardianship over the waterfall area. People were using it the way you would any old waterway, and that eant they weren't going around properly armed, so someone had to keep the place safe.

So, she grunted as she heard a flapping of wings, glancing in the direction of ... a crow? Yeah, that was the one that hung around Shinsei wasn't it? What the hell did it want?

Karasu recognized this woman, and his gaze was particularly heavy for this one. The crow's eyes seemed to pierce into the core of her being, weighing her against some unseen metric, the black, beady eyes scouring every possible corner of her soul.

Then, just as abruptly, the weight lifted. Karasu, seemingly content, nodded once, then flew away.

She frowned when the bird flapped its way away, her eyebrows climbing. "The hell was that about?" she muttered and shook her head. She was going to have to figure that bird out at some point because gods help her, she didn't have a clue why it did what it did. It was not a normal bird at all.

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

Kyosei blinked. He was wet. He was bruised. And he was flat on his stomach. He had very little idea how he had gotten here. A bird - Spirit? - had taunted him, and he felt compelled to chase after it. Then... wet. Bruised. Flat.

What?!

He slowly rose to his feet, slowly. This was not a good day.

Then, he looked at the waterfall, and wondered. Often water hid what was useful. Was there something useful behind there?

[Togashi Nadare]

Nadare's Lion tattoo coiled as if to spring forth from his chest. Instead it flexed its muscles and leant him some athletic power as he strolled towards the pool.

"A busy day!" He said to no-one in particular as he looked around at all the people present. "Such beauty!" Did he mean those gathered or the waterfall and the rainbows?

Walking over to the water's edge he considered throwing himself in, but at that moment a black shadow crossed his view. Eyes narrowed. There was a squawk.

"I see you, bird..."

Nadare's Lion tattoo coiled as if to spring forth from his chest. Instead it flexed its muscles and leant him some athletic power as he strolled towards the pool.

Karasu glowered at the Dragon, puffing up his feathers and hopping from side to side. An angry flap here, a throaty caw there, but nothing seemed to phase the man. So, with an indignant huffing sound the bird left his roost and headed elsewhere.

[Makime Mineko]

Mineko glared at the bird, not trying to blink or flinch. She just glared at it wondering why it is glaring back.

Karasu looked at the angry Lion for a brief moment then noped himself somewhere else real quick.

[Togashi Nadare]

His gaze followed the crow as it departed in search of a victory elsewhere. An eyebrow was raised. "Return when you seek a rematch."

Shrugging he threw himself into a swan dive, submerging himself in the delightfully cool water. A few strokes and he looked around. Into the water. Up to the waterfall. Yes, quite beautiful. His eyes were drawn to the crow's next challenger.

[Nanzi]

Nanzi was not sure what was happening but would be sure to strike this Crow staring episode from the Litany.

Seeking a scenic and comfortable spot to meet with his student that afternoon Jin instead found himself eye to eye with a familiar dark figure. Already annoyed at how long it took himself to snap out of it at the swamp and knowing future, darker, tests of will would yet lay ahead he was damned if he was going to ignore a challenge from a crow.

It was a good showing, not great, but good

And damned he certainly was. Karasu cocked his head to one side, then unleashed a series of ferociously insulting caws that even a human like Jin could probably interpret. This test of will was for the crows...

The eyebrow raised above his patch, in apparent good humor despite his defeat, as he shook his head, "Well that's just your opinion now, isn't it?"

Amidst the insults he began to make his way down the cliff.

Ryoko, jerky in her mouth in a manner not so different from girls heading to their building of education with a square bread product in some alternate universe, paused as she saw the crow looking at her.

She had somewhere she had to be, buuuuttt.....

Contemplating the crow, she decided she couldn't help it. The little guy liked to listen. Pulling the morin kuuru from her shoulder, she held it awkwardly, plucking out a silly little tune on the strings as she passed by, watching the crow to see if it cheered the little fellow up.

Haruyo sat before the waterfall, enjoying the sensation of the natural presence of the place and enjoying the joined nature of the people present here. Sitting alone she lay her walking stick down beside her and stood with her cheek toward the waterfall. Sitting silently for a while she listened and observed in her own way. Hearing the world around her as it continued to develop.

After a while, she broke the facade and smiled.

"Hey birdie, ye up tae something?" Koyama stared at the crow staring at him, having finished his waterfall bath.

Karasu had been watching Koyama bathe, and when the staring contest began, he made a noise like laughter. He laghed and laughed, and continued to laugh even as he stared Koyama down from atop his mighty perch.

Much as he normally enjoyed the music, today Karasu seemed to be a critic, and kept crowing out of tune with the music. Or maybe he was in tune with a different piece it was really hard to tell...

Was Karasu up to the challenge of staring down a blind woman?

No, no he was not. After several attempts at repositioning, the crow left after being thoroughly freaked out at being 'spotted' every time.
