[D9-EM+LM] Almost done (Mai's tent/private)

Mai continued working on her "secret project." The wooden piece has transformed from an unruly looking slice to a very obvious mask. With upturned nose and large ears it was looked a bit like a bat. With two tiny fangs made of bone, it had just enough of an edge to it to appear not quite cute, but certainly not monsterous.

She'd stylized the mask to look like the cute fox faced bats around the mountains to her home. The intended recipient reminded her of those bats. How they lovingly cling to each other and protect each other. As animals, bats weren't always understood. Neither was the target of this gift.

She poured her heart and soul into making the mask. Lovingly, her blade curled away the roughness and imperfections. At the end, of course, she would add one carefully placed nick that would mark it as truly complete. That was the way of the Artisan. Her thoughts drifted to he who would take the mask and wondered if he would like such a frivolous thing. The symbolism behind it may need to be explained.
