[Bayushi Umeno]

It was like chopping at a log that barely showed signs of the axe mark. She could see her dai tsuchi wasn't appreciating the creature's blood either. Her blow struck true, but seemed to lack a bit of oomph, perhaps because of her dodging immediately to avoid the spray of sizzling blood.

Gritting his teeth through the pain, he lashed out, putting his whole body into it. This may be his last moment alive, but he would make sure that he was remembered if that was so. He lashed out with his axe, barely managing to connect. It was a solid blow, but against this foe, would it be enough?

[Jiyo Ayumu]

Ayumu's yari hit the beast. It's hard to say when and how. The second before, he was just there waiting, and the second after the blade was deeply stuck in the demon's flesh. Too deeply actually as acid splashed around.

(successful attack, 36 not jaded damages with no extra reduction bonus, not quick enough for acid, 8-3=5 damages taken)

[Tyrus]

the Oni's body shows signs of their continual assault fiery blood leaking from puncture wounds and cuts caused by massive blunt impact. The creature roars "You may best me this day but I will take you with me." as it slices at the Nezumi and the spearman that stabbed it.

She had to just hope the others were still alive. She wasn't a medic, and she didn't have time to look. Even as her dai tsuchi melted more and more, she kept hammering away at the beast to fell it if she could.

Xia knows a finale when she sees it. Tiredly she raises her club again before launching herself forward to slam the weapon into the oni's jaw.

As Umeno and Xia land their blows something cracks in the monster and it smiles wide its deep bellowing laugh ringing through the halls "Yes you may have killed me but my hall shall be your tomb!" as he speaks he swells and the glow from inside him brightens until eventually he explodes in a ball of green liquid flame splattering everything around him with a burning substance that sticks to anything it lands on.

[Ch'jak'matt]

He didn't bother moving. He took the blast full on. He knew he couldn't get far enough away. So he met it with a grin. He would go meet his family in the afterlife as he had lived. With a fierce passion for life, his weapon in hands, fighting alongside allies. As his vision faded, he saw his pups and mate waiting for him. He was home.....

As his body fell, the iron armor partially melted to him, his hands, burned to the bone, were still locked around the Ono, which was without a scratch despite all it had been through, held at ready even as his ashen corpse lay there. It still had a destiny. Its name still would be carried on to a task that awaited it.

[Bayushi Umeno]

Umeno was literally right there next to the creature. There was no dodging the blast. She managed to avoid the worst of it, but still could feel some of her skin sizzling. She wiped it off and shook her hand, grimacing. Her body shuddered a moment, put it soon passed.

Xia sighs with relief, her hands covered with burns. This must be how Anjing and Hida felt every day.
"Is everyone all-"
She spots the smoking corpse of Ch'Jak'Matt and Ayumu not looking so good.
"Right...."

She chews her lip for a moment before painfully stowing her singed weapon and going to collect the Nezumi's fallen axe.
"I think I need to return this to his people, make sure his name lives on."

[Jiyo Ayumu]

If he hadn't forced himself to train with the slightly bullying village militia...

If Jiyo hadn't put him through countless drills where he had to avoid her attacks with nothing but his guts and poor reflexes...

If the stars had aligned just a tidy bit differently through his whole life...

He would have taken the full force of the blast and die.

But here he was, not dead, just unable to move and in total pain.

A sensation he had not forgotten about, but he would have hoped he never had to feel again.

Still. Alive was alive.

[Tyrus]

The smoke clears and the players are left standing......mostly. The explosion seemed to unsettle the structure of the hall and it begins to collapse in. The remaining conscious pair have barely enough time to collect the unconscious Ayumu and the weapon of the Nezumi before much of the structure collapses the green flames fading.

The heroes stand outside scorched, cut and bruised but still alive, their number diminished slightly but sometimes victory requires sacrifice.

Looking to Xia, Umeno gave a grunt. "Surprised you can still move after all the punishment that thing dished out on you. I think the Stag's still alive, even if that rat sure isn't. I can carry him in my straw cloak if she grab his spear and the rat's weapon."

"Eh, I've been a lot worse. We'll go see Jin-sama I think. I know he's a healer, helped him pick plants the other evening. Should be able to patch you right up," she said as she rolled Ayumu onto her cloak and bundled him up, lifting with a heave and putting him over a shoulder.
