As you enter the hall the flames jump and a deep throaty laugh can be heard from deeper in. Through the shimmering heat haze a large sinuous figure can be seen, horned, with a sharp toothed smile and long limbs with hands that terminate in razor sharp claws. "Welcome to my Home, you've ventured far from your own and all for a doomed quest that will lead to nothing but sadness and tragedy." the horned entity said green light pouring from its mouth as it talked showing glimpses of the raging inferno inside it.

"Do not worry though, you will not live to see it. I will make your deaths long, and extremely painful." it rumbles out and motions to a row of staked and burned Nezumi, their charred corpses gruesome decorations "I look forward to adding you to my collection!"

Characters may, as a complex action, flee the fight. They run back to camp to lick their wounds but survive to fight another day.

If at least one player defeats the Monster the players gain 10 purity points. If all the players are brought to down or flee the monster wins and the players lose 10 purity points.

Xia strikes a confident stance, one hand balancing a club one her armoured shoulder as she points dramatically at the monster.
"There's where you're wrong demon! I've come-" She whirls her weapons around

"To Flick.Your.Ass"
....

"...Ah crap, and I rehearsed that for hours. Can we do do-overs? Is that cool?"

[Ch'jak'matt]

Ch'jak'matt was angry. this had been his home. His people had died here. His family had died here. And here this thing despoiled the place even further. He was clad in iron armor, and his ono was in hand, its name ringing out strong.

Umeno knew that things were getting dangerous. Danger was her duty however. Her dai tsuchi was ready, her armor tight. She idly touched the black ribbon around her neck.

[Jiyo Ayumu]

Scouting the place from floor to ceiling as to preemptively identify all sources of danger seemed like a good idea. And it has just proven to indeed be one.

Now was the hard part: Actually dealing with the danger.

Ayumu gripped his yari hard and positioned himself as to use it to strike the beast should it approach further.

"I guess you're not interested about talking things out peacefully, or tell us anything about yourself or this place?"

Monster fight initiative: 6d10o10k4 28

Burning Blood: Kagetsu no Oni’s blood is acidic, and burns all who touch it. Anyone wounding these oni in melee must make a Defense/Reflexes roll (TN 20 for unarmed attacks or attacks with Small weapons, TN 15 for attacks with Medium weapons, and TN 10 for attacks with Large weapons) to avoid being splattered by Acid. Failure means the attacker takes 2k1 damage. If Kagetsu no Oni is wounded Any creature starting its turn grappling Kagetsu no Oni takes 2k1 damage automatically due to its acidic blood.

Corrosive blood: whenever a someone wounds Kagetsu their weapon is degraded by his corrosive blood. After damaging Kagetsu the weapon used to do so suffers -1k0 on damage rolls. This effect is cumulative but will not reduce the amount of unkept dice below 0. This persists until the weapon can be repaired.

Xia starts rubbing her club in oily jade

"Oh yeah, you're going to get it soon."
She polishes menacingly

Ch'jak'matt raised his axe, and waited for the creature to come closer, chanting softly in nezumi a litany of names of those who had fallen from his band of fighters. His eyes were narrowed as he waited. This was the day.

The burn monster smiled wickedly at the boisterous crab "Maybe i don't like waiting!" the monster takes it claws and reaches down to its sides and makes two cuts one with each hand and collects blood in them the blood bursting into flame as it is exposed to air then it quickly throws the fireballs. one lands hard on Xia and the other only slightly splatters the rat in front of him.

Ayumu moved forward carefully, up until he could stand shoulder to shoulder with the Anjing lady, his eyes meticulously scanning the beast for anything that could look like the weakness... Or an additional source of danger.

Well, this was going well. Seemed she'd be the guinea pig. Umeno moved forward and readied her dai tsuchi.

Xia stares down as the blood sizzles painfully on her skin

"...I'm....I'm having a fight or flight reflex. Oh no, what would Auntie do? What would Anjing do?"
Her mind flashes back to training under her aunt
Xia: "But what if I have to fight a bigger and stronger opponent?
Anjing: "Pound him"
Xia: " But i-"
Anjing: "Pound. Always"

The Crab's grip on her weapon tightens
"I won't let you down!....Unless I die, but I'm not going to die!"

Raising her club above her head
"HIDAAAAAAAA-ANJIIIIIIIIING"

And she barrels towards the creature, feinting to the left before whipping her weapon around with huge force into its unprotected knee roaring all the while.

A huge gout of burning blood spurts out but that just makes her roar even louder.

He surged forward a moment after the crab, blistering fast for something so large. He darted the opposite direction of Xia, bringing his axe down with deadly precision, the strength of his Name and that of the axe merging into one, even as he ducked under the spraying blood, which seemed to just slide off his axe, leaving it uneffected. He would Kill Tommorow, one foe at a time. He stuck in close, using the movements of those fighting the creature to aid his attacks even further. "No more take-take my people monster! Today you learn to fear the strong-brave warriors who fight Tommorow!"

The monster roared as the jade enhanced weapon smashed into him he barely noticed when the rat man cut into him but none the less his retort to the Nezumi was much more devastating his claws slicing into the brave warrior. His attack at the human woman was less effective as he swiped at her legs but was thrown off by the force of the Nezumi's blow.

Ayumu cautiously advanced again, and cautiously he struck.

Far too cautiously. The tip of his spear missed the demon by the length of an arm.

Umeno seemed to already know what she would do, as if she already had and had to retcon. Her dai tsuchi swung true as she dodged the acid.

As the monster tries to knock her back Xia pivots and slams her club down on the exposed arm

He rolled with the blow, letting his armor take most of it, and relying on his strong name to take the rest. Even still, that managed to shake him a bit. He took a more cautious advance, but he positioned himself to take advantage of the others harrying blows, and as it dodged out of the way of Ayumu's spear, it ran into a swing of his family's ono as it bit deep. Ripping it free of the monster, he ducked under the spraying blood, positioning himself behind the creature so that it had no way to retreat now. Gritting his teeth, he set himself for the long fight.

The blows hammer into the fiery monster and while you find his body unyielding beneath your blows the continuous stream of devastating attacks is wearing on the creature down he snarls as each blow hits him though it it troubling he is still standing after blows that would have crippled or killed normal men.

It swings out to the sides to sweep the legs of his attacker and try to kill the rat man again.

Ayumu breathed deeply. The monster was not something he could hope to beat by simply waving his spear around.

He took a deep breath, and prepared himself to put everything he had into a single decisive, all or nothing, strike.
