Inga decided to go alone to the jungle. She wanted to hear what they had to say. She is no spirit talker but she knows how they communicate with her. She placed her blanket on the floor and sat. She looked over her shoulder and smiled. "So that was it... A monk telling who goes and who stayed."

She placed her lantern on the floor and opened her divination kit. "Nature spirit, what should I do?" She tossed the trinkets on to the cloth.

Her divination kit, responsive to the spirits around it, seems more responsive than usual. In order, it suggest the phrases "sacrifice", "blood", and "true sight".

The girl looked up her shoulder. Then took out her knife. She looked at the knife with doubt. She had never purposely damaged herself. She took a look at her necklace made out of jade. She took it off and looked at it reflecting on what to do. Baba Nana I wish you were here. She took the tip of her knife and poked a small hole in her finger.

Drip, drip, drip, the blood fell on the bone, stone and shell.

[Inga gains 2 Points of Shadowlands Taint and -2 Purity is subtracted as though she were a shugenja deliberately calling on the kansen]

Inga's vision is suddenly taken to her village. The people who once treated her badly in her village are surrounding her, but rather than being afraid, she feels powerful. Her conscious mind notices something wrong with them - all of them are dead, but standing, awaiting her command.

She can see her standing before someone bound in dark, rusty iron manacles that rise from the earth, looking up at her in fear and awe.

She can see pain wracking her enemies at her command.

All of this, it seems to suggest with each vision, for only a little bit of blood at a time...

When she comes out of her trance, the jade she had held is partially worn away, more than it has been before, a pool of black ooze beneath it.

Inga's eyes grew wide. The girl started crying. This wasn't what she expected. "Papa, what have I done?"

Some part of her can still feel the corrupted spirits nearby, eager, awaiting her command, the next sacrifice...

The girl was too scared to give in to the spirits around her. She shook her head. "Must not give in!" The Shoji frown as her divination instruments are now tainted with her blood made into this dark ickor.
