There's a loud 'Clang!' from behind the Nezumi, as if someone had dropped a large heirloom axe. But it appears to just be Xia with heavily bandaged hands awkwardly carrying the weapon she definitely hadn't dropped

"Um, ChchitTikkiri-san? Your comrade wanted his weapon returned, I think."
She wasn't sure how Nezumi mourned but did her best to look solemn.

Maybe go with the easier to pronounce name

Xia's eyes widen and she tenses slightly before relaxing
"Thank you, he was a good Nezumi and I was honoured to fight beside him."
She awkwardly pats his back with a wrapped hand
"Will you be alright? Do you need some company? Humans often like company when someone....passes."

"It was in The Hall of Green Flame. We were confronting the demon that resided there, he'd killed many and was waiting for us.

We were 4, myself, Umeno of the Bayushi, Ayumo of the Jiyo and Ch'jak'matt. When we entered the flames flared high and the whole building seemed to pulse with heat, as though the creature as taunting us. It was huge, vaguely manshaped but with great curving horns and its blood was fire. The oni taunted us and we taunted back and the battle started"

Absentmindedly rubbing her shoulder
"We charged, Ch'jack'matt had no fear, but the creature was impossibly tough, it seemed only weapons covered in jade good injure it to any great amount. Each of us landed many blows, your comrade amongst them as he circled it, axe rising and falling even as its claws raked his body and its blood burnt his skin.

Finally, we brought it down and with the last of its energy it exploded, burning all of us. Ch'jak'matt seemed to.....accept it, I guess? He was not afraid even in the last moment, his kin were avenged."
