(D13, EM, Open) Herbs for a relaxing pot

The early bird catches the best herbs, so Ayumu had risen at dawn to help refill their reserves of medicine.

The jungle wasn't a welcoming place at all, but so far it hadn't actively tried to kill him, and he had managed to find some of what he was looking for.

So, all things considered, the day was starting right, and he kept on foraging with a smile.

Sora absolutely hated this.

Not only had he not found a damned thing, he was also developing a strong suspicion that the day's pains in the ass were only beginning.

[Togashi Saruko]

Saruko was shaken from the string of nightmares plaguing her, so she didn't dare to go alone to look for herbs that could possibly help with overcoming the problems of sleeping.

At least she was able to put her mind to it and focus on the task at hand, as she successfully found some supplies.

Dawei does much the same as the others, striking out a bit to find medicinal herbs.

He finds thrice what he needs (Hunting 35 against TN 25).

So it's not a bad start to things, even if the previous night was...unpleasant.

[Miyako]

Like in previous mornings over the past week, Miyako ventured out to the jungle to see what she might see of the Forest of the Southlands. Much sleep did she have to rub out of her eyes, however, due to the nightmares making her sleep a restless one. Unlike the jungle much further north with its lushness and vibrancy, and even compared to the strange-but-still-okay jungle of a couple days ago, this area seemed... most incorrect to her. What plants seemed to be left in-between the patchy dirt areas did not look all that healthy with off-colors, dry-looking textures, and weird growth patterns. Far fewer plants did she recognize from what she had seen over the past days, but those few things she recognized would make for good comparison with their more northernly jungle cousins growing just a few days walk away.

There was herb that after a good long while of study she determined was both harmless and also might be the herb the hooded monk had talked about, and she gathered up a little bit of it for herself. As far as most everything else that was in this 'jungle', however, she stayed as far away from the sickly-looking trees and bushes and other plants, instead trying to observe them from a safe distance.

Taochusu was out like many of the others, hunting down herbs for the ritual that had been suggested.

Nearby, a Crab in simple robes was gathering medicinal herbs as well.

“Ahhh! This type of mushroom is very good,” Nori said, his eyes lighting up as he found a patch of mushrooms growing under a shady tree.

“They are very good for, ahh, relaxation,” he explained. “But one must be careful not to eat too many at once, or it can sever the soul’s connection to the mortal plane.”

With that ominous warning, Nori held up a handful of the mushrooms. “Would anyone like to try some?” he asked. “They are pretty good when fried with a bit of butter.”

Miuna carefully picked her way through the foliage, locating the herbs Shinsei had described with little effort.

Curious as to what the Crab had found, she tucked away the herb plant she had harvested and walked over to take a closer look at this mushroom.

"... are those really safe to eat if they are found out here?" Probably a silly question to ask, she thought after it came out of her mouth, considering the whole warning about losing one's soul, but she rolled with it. "The plants I have seen so far this morning have... not been the healthiest-looking of plants, and except for the occasional bird overhead I have neither seen nor heard even a small creature in this area. Compared to the jungle of days ago, this area is bruised, damaged... diseased, in parts, if not perhaps almost in its whole."

Reo feels confident in his own supplies from Shinsei's recommendations for the moment. However this is another chance to explore the local flora.

Reo finds some plants that might have been promising... had the local persistent weather patterns allowed them to grow. As it is, they're semi-corroded and mostly useless for his purposes unless he intends to incorporate the corruption as a strategy.
