[Day 13 - LE] Judgement of the Heavens

[Nanzi]

"Which brings me around to, what of a dispute between those who both are not trained with a sword? Seems unfair that both put their own fates in the hands of others. I suggested some form of contest of control for spirit callers, but what also of other servants?"

“Why would it not be fair, a samurai does not own their life completely, it is that of their lords to do what is best for the Clan and Empire. If such a dispute comes to pass find two champions if such is needed and handle the matter if they find no other way to satisfy Honor,” he replied.

“There is no need to complicate matters.”

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"Sometimes, you have to complicate things. You are introducing a method which favors only those that use the sword. But, if two Servants, one trained as a spirit caller, and the other as a Major-domo, are disputing, putting both their fates in the hands of others seems... off. Not just." Kyosei shakes his head. "I am sorry if I seem to be pressing this, but it seems a method purely for the potency of those trained with the sword. It allows for no other method of resolution. Which is... I am not sure how to put it. It just seems off somehow. Incomplete."

[Nanzi]

"Dueling is not hammer and not every issue is a nail, disputes should still be handled with words it is only when such fails when it rises to that moment. If one is ill they seek a healer, if one seeks grain they seek a farmer, and if one needs to protect their honor they seek a duelist," he said calmly.

"This is not to rule over anyone but settle a matter of Honor, or find the judgement of Heaven if needed."

"Nanzi already agreed that such a matter could be handled by magic if done so cleanly," he replied with a smile.

"Nanzi does not know magic, though."

"Magic is, in its base form, giving an offering to a spirit, usually of one of the elements, though I have heard stories of others spirits being called on, and the spirit answering in a certain way. Most offerings are of blood. It is not hard, and each has a certain amount they can give, which also limits how much can be done."

[Nanzi]

"Nanzi thinks this form between priests is apt, it seems just though if one is not a priest it may be best to fall to a duelist," he responded.

"Swordsman and warriors are more plentiful than priests."

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"But, what sort of contest. As I said, some of the results are... destructive in the extreme. So, how to judge? Who can last the longest, between the priests? Who can talk to the most spirits?"

[Nanzi]

"That is the question, perhaps they can muster spirit forms to do battle on their behalf? Nanzi does not know," he said honestly.

"Well, something to think about, to keep in the back of our minds, as we try to finish the more immediate quest, I suppose."
