Reo decides to follow up on the description that Ninube has given him about his spiritualist, along with some specific guidelines.

Blind...check. Shugenja...check. Not Satone's friend? Check.

"Hello there. Are you the Woman Who Must Not be Named?"

Haka looks up from a small pile of stick figures. "Hello. That seems a bit dramatic, but no less accurate."

"Then it is you I seek." Reo nods, seemingly to himself. "I have heard of the recent incursion of a spirit. I hope to learn of these peculiar dangers that we encounter. You were mentioned as one who could explain more, on account of-"

Reo trails off, gesticulating. "You know, the thing, the Thing of Ominous Referencing"

Haka nods. "Yes, this one knows of what is spoken. Sit and speak of this spirit."

"I didn't see it... just by rumors. It was the thing that looked like Shinsei and they practically tore down a dozen tents to find it, so I hear. I also hear that it touched Jade to no effect, so it's not a shadowland thing."

"It looked like Shinsei?" Haka's eyebrows rise in surprise. "This one cannot be certain, of course, but it sounds like an Ikiryo... which this one warned Shinsei about some days ago. How interesting."

"Yeah, he's a lot more faliable than I thought considering the reputation. But what is it and how do we kill it?" Reo's face is dead set, until a look of dawning comprehension takes over. "Oh yes, does it leave anything useful behind? I've been studying the remains of the strange things the others have killed"

"An Ikiryo is the soul of a living person that acts out on their desires, often without that person knowing that it is happening. As thisbone told Shinsej, the only way she knows to defeat an Ikiryo is to kill its creator." She pauses. "This is best done while the Ikiryo is not active, or it will become untethered. That is not good."

"Huh. So it is something done to you." Reo seems to think. "How do you find this "creator"? It would not do to kill the wrong person."

"Usually, the Ikiryo bears a resemblance to the person. In most cases, it is only active while the person sleeps." She taps a finger against her chin as she thinks. "I think... if you wound an Ikiryo, a similar wound should appear on the person...?"

"Hmmm. We better keep an eye out. Old Man Yama tried to beat the piss out of that thing for threatening his daughter. You can't ask the spirits or anything? Maybe trace it from Shinsei?"

"Oh, absolutely. This one just needs to be near where the spirit was. Or she could ask the Emptiness, but it can be evasive."
