"Should we have not slain it then? I have never seen such a creature and just assumed it was an enemy, especially since it charged at you."

"But it changed shape," Taochusu replies, catching his breath. "Was a little girl. Same description as the one that was sneaking in our supplies. That ran off when folks tried to see if it was all corrupted or something."

"It is dead now," Haka says with a shrug. "It is best not to worry about whether it was a just kill or not. Let us just move away quickly before its vengeful ghost rises from its corpse and tries to devour our souls."

She pauses for a moment. "Which way is camp?"

Jin shakes his head a little, "My magic could not strike down anything that was not touched by the darkness. Whatever she, it, was it is better this way. If it did have a mind of a child, even if we had greeted it with open arms, someday it would have had a tantrum... and we see what happens when it grew angry."

"Hm. I see. Killing it was for the best then"

"I would be happy to assist you back to camp, lady priest, but first I wonder, should we not ward this area like you did the cave with your straw men?"

Taochusu, wasn't really worried about killing it. He didn't have any moral questions really, since it turned into a giant spider from a little girl. Seemed simple enough to him that such a creature didn't really have good intentions. So he simply keeps an eye out in case anything comes while they decide what to do before heading back.

"This one has warded some of the sticky things," she says, gesturing behind her. "It should be good until morning."

"Oh."

Satone's voice is surprised in tone.

"Okay then. Well, I am happy to escort you back, otherwise it's out the cave and then turn right and keep going."

Haka holds out her hand. "This one suggests that we all leave quickly."

"That seems prudent. We know the touch of these things can potentially carry the darkness with it. I am glad we were able to end it before it struck any of us but perhaps even the corpse is a risk." He moves to follow them, "If any of you were splattered with blood or ichor be very careful cleaning it and keep your jade on hand."

Satone takes Haka's hand gently and guides her with expert practice from years of dealing with her own blind priest.

"That spell you did Jin, could you not cast it on us to cleanse us? It seemed to strike the evil fiercely."

"I do not fully understand why but there is a limit to how much I can draw on each element each day. I can do so if you wish but it does mean if another threat arises tonight I will have fewer opportunities to wield that power against it."

"Do what you think is best, I am only suggesting it could be a way to tell besides having the physical jade as has been announced by Shinjo to see who is who."

Jin nods, "Oh, yes, I had that thought too. But more for when we are in safer places and worrying about saboteurs and impostors. Out here with monsters roaming free it seems more prudent to hold it in reserve."

"I know we're supposed to be touching jade to folks to figure that stuff out, but I never saw it have any effect on someone so far. Don't even really know what it would look like if had an effect."

Despite the grim place and dark topic Jin laughs a little, "I suspect it would not be quite so spectacular or these creatures would have been even easier to defeat. I suspect it would be based on how much the realm has seized of them. The less they are of our realm and the more they are of the realm of evil the greater the impact."

"Do we have any fear of it taking hold on us? From my understanding the new Jade greeting is to prove we are ourselves and not an imposter, no?"
