Settling In (D11, LE, Open)

[Jin]

Though, despite his missing eye, his visual acuity was often keener than his ability to read people, even Jin noticed something off in the man's demeanor.

"Is... is everything ok?"

[Shinjo Koyama]

"Ah'm dischuffed that amurnay wi' her now." Koyama said simply, distilling layers of his thoughts to this simple factual statement.

[Jin]

Jin nods, without true understanding, though it doesn't mean his answer doesn't still hold deeper truth, "You'll be back with her soon enough. There's no trial or beast that could keep the two of you apart for long and woe to the thing that tried."

[Shinjo Koyama]

"Even Fu Leng his-sel, ye think?" Koyama voiced his major concern, not pretending that he had more reservations about Shinjo's brother than her.

[Jin]

"If he disapproves of her choice in husbands he's a spot too late to make any difference now, isn't he?" Jin offers a smile, "Besides if he tries to start anything the great and legendary Koyama can just shove him in another pit... just make sure that one doesn't lead to hell."

[Shinjo Koyama]

"That's an idea. If he acts funny ah wull beat him up." Koyama nodded, not fully convinced on exigencies of such an approach, but finding it to be very consistent with his feelings and sensibilities. For the time being, it made him feel better.

"Speaking o' choosing spouses, hae ye hud ony ideas fur yourself?" He wanted to shift the conversation away from his internal woes.

[Jin]

Jin frowns a little and shakes his head, "I know Shinjo wants it soon but I have a hard time focusing on it with everything going on. Plus it doesn't really matter if I pick a bride if we don't make it out of this alive. It just feels a little... unimportant with everything happening."

[Shinjo Koyama]

"Cannae be unimportant if she wants it." He chuckled. "Bit ah git tis hard fur ye tae focus oan keekin. A'body is giein' ye th' vibes though?"

[Jin]

Jin looks a little sheepeish, "I honestly don't know what a... vibe... like that would feel like." He shakes his head a little, "You know my past. The old healer who raised me - was that love, or was that pity? In either case it wasn't romantic love. After that I was an outcast, reviled, kicked out of any village I tried to approach until I finally dug out my eye. The years between the and finding Shinjo were better but I still never stayed in one place long. I'd come in, heal those needing it, get the supplies I needed, and move on. I don't think I even made any friends let along love...." He sighs a little, "It's just such an alien concept to me. I know I love the girls, my students, but not like that... I guess like a parent though it's not like I have experience knowing what that feels like either."

Koyama listened conscienciously and thought a bit.

"Hmmm. Dinnae wantae be rude, mah mukker, bit dae ye aye cop th' heat doon thare whin seeing a bonnie lassie?"

[Jin]

Jin scratches his chin as he puzzles out Koyama's words then looks bashful, a somewhat new look on the man, "Ah... yes... I'm familiar with that feeling. But I thought love was more than... that."

[Shinjo Koyama]

"No doubt, bit it haes tae stairt somewhere, 'n' some healthy attraction is as guid a starting point as ony. Sae, wid thare be a'body wha mak's yer blood flow faster?" Koyama patted Jin on the arm to indicate there was nothing to be bashful about.

[Jin]

"Of those gathered here... well... I suppose Satone of the Seidou is a most impressive woman. Though that might be partly the adrenaline from battle talking."

[Shinjo Koyama]

Koyama nodded knowingly.

""Ye say it lik' battle blurry isnae th' richt state o' mynd. 'n' whit wid ye mean by 'most impressive'?"

[Jin]

Jin chuckles a little, "Her interests and fears for her people align with our own. In fact Sora has apparently already told her about our little group. In battle she was fearless, smart, and protective of those she fought beside. And, well.. while the soot and grime look might not be especially to my taste the form beneath it is not unpleasing."

[Shinjo Koyama]

"That is a braw set o' reasons." Koyama smirked. "Dae ye want me tae blether tae her in yer stead?"

[Jin]

Jin is silent for a bit before he shakes his head, "She's looking to keep what's left of her people free of tyranny. I intend to help with that no matter what. If I do decide to follow the other course I think it best for both causes that she's not thinking I just do the former in service to the latter."

[Shinjo Koyama]

"Ah git that." He mused. "Shuid ah tell mah guidwife at least? She hud that situation wi' Satone 'n' wid liklie seek some wey tae th' future wi' th' woman."

[Jin]

I'm never going to live this down, am I? Jin's sigh is half chuckle at himself, "Go ahead I suppose. It's not like I could ever keep a secret from her if she truly wanted to know it anyway."

[Shinjo Koyama]

"Wance she's back then." The Hikaru nodded, then stared over Jin's shoulder. "Whit dae ye mak' o' thae ruins?"
