Poll: The Crab's Assault

The Crab Clan followed Anjing Xia’s advice. While discussions were beginning with regard to making the treaties with the Nezumi that Nanzi promised, the Crab began moving in on the northernmost territories of the Nezumi. Weakened as they had been by the war with the Shadowlands and much of the Crab carrying the Seidou Tribe’s grudge against them, the Crab believed that it wouldn’t be too much trouble or controversy to take some of the territory for their fledgling Clan.

They proved to be very wrong. In the week that followed, a force of nearly 10,000 Nezumi and their advanced weapons fell on the Crab, employing tactics honed against the Shadowlands. They also alerted their diplomat in the Imperial palace to the situation, and the Emperor quickly demanded that a stop be put to the fighting. Win or lose, there will be consequences to the Crab's actions.

This poll will run for three days.

Well that was an easy choice.

Good. I'm not the only one.
So, I wasn't a fan of Xia's continuing the assault specifically on allied lands rather than unclaimed lands available and ripe for the plucking. But, this has the possibility of a shakeup in clan locations. And... if the Festering Pit isn't a thing and that land is eventually cleansed of its taint, then there's a good, solid reason for the Crab to be at another of the potential border issues.

So, putting them up north and another clan to mind the allies' border militarily just in case could potentially shift 4 different clans around a bit, and give us some variation in the map while avoiding permanently harming one of my favorite clans.

Probably a good idea to send the smelly Seidou to the other side of the Empire from the rats.

Might increase the remote possibility that the Nezumi Empire and the Human Empire are able to politely co-exist in a century or two...

If it weren't for Ryoshun's grave, I'd be all for having the Crab and the Bat trade places.

Stag are probably a decent choice. Dawei is a friend. Rats helped Hantei. They get to be neighbors to their buddies the Crane. And the IH Non-Human based combatant school for Stag could maybe be a thing. They are prepared for the worst; if were relations with rats to sour... they’d be a decent choice to protect the Empire.

I liked the one with some exiles to the Islands. Sea Turtle Clan!

Man, I am LIKING these choices, because only the most nicey-nice of them is even a little dull...

Having come into the CCG during the War of Dark Fire, I think I'm gonna vote in favor of letting the Crab make good on what one of them told the Dragon: "You should have built a wall."

Besides. With a friendly Nezumi buffer zone to the south... we might well want the defense specialists on the more porous border currently guarded by a couple of very sparsely populated clans.

I think especially with the portal now closed there are some interesting opportunities for substitute threats - under #4, truly massive Yobanjin hordes requiring a northbound version of the Carpenter Wall could certainly fit... :)

I won't vote on an option that harms the independent tribesmen, so the only viable alternative gets it.

I enjoy the shuffling of the Empire and the not antagonizing the Nezumi more than necessary so there we go.

This makes things much easier. While I don't imagine I'll be returning to the world of Rat-Rat (outside of maybe a FATAL oneshot) my friends and I have enjoyed seeing and discussing the fascinating characters, plots and settings that have been created here.

Relocating so many people is not a wise choice

I wonder who will now take Hida's various half-finished castles and fortresses...
