Jin nods at the words, though he wasn't so certain there wasn't an intelligence at play, leading a foe to underestimate you was a wise tactical decision in itself.

"We call on the spirits of the elements, you call upon names, have any of the sick shown a magic of their own we should prepare against?"
"Big scary spirits have magic, like other spirits. Many different kinds, as many as different kinds of big scary spirits."

Reo nods. "You say that they change. Is it always the same or is it different every time?"
"General changes same... little things different. Some might grow... no-hand-arm." She made a move to illustrate a tentacle. "Others might get bad-glow-eyes."

A curious expression comes over Reo's features, perhaps unnoticed to the Nezumi.

"What is something on the body is already damaged. An old wound, or something like that? Does it make a difference to the changes?"

Well, that doesn't bode well. He hoped Shinjo had taken his advisement to add extra spiritual protection for Reiko.

"Have you found any methods to protect from their magic? Or ways to banish or destroy these spirits?"

"Skin is skin. Open skin, get more sick. We no often, but more-more. Makes sense spirit-sick, dream-of-evil work same."

"Green-green stone powder on weapons. Shine-shiney weapons help. Humans have poor weapons, though. Doesn't help."

Jade was unsurprising, though the idea of applying it as a powder was new, though he wasn't sure they would have supplies to waste.

"Shiney weapons? Do you mean steel? Or something else we do not yet know?"

"No, no... not sure human words. Shine-shineys hurt what cannot be hurt," she tried to explain. "Steel different. Normal. Get steel, though, too."

Jin scratches his chin. These shineys definitely sounded important... if he could figure out what they were.

"Do shiney weapons literally shine? Produce or reflect light?"

She nodded. "Yes. No magic, but takes very skilled metal-hammerers."

"Interesting. Is it something of the material they craft with? Or is it the skill of the creator?"

"Not... area of knowing, but think maybe shape of metal and skill. Focusing sun. Strong pure-pure."

"I imagine such talent would call for such in return, yes." He nods, "We have seen the darkness change the land itself... seemingly with calculated planning... have your people witnessed anything like this?"

She nodded. "Yes. Landscape in dream-of-evil unpredictable. Easy to lose sense for... way-of-facing."
