Examining The Goods [D7, LM]

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

Kyosei made his way through the cool tunnels, happy enough in the cooler air, examining the walls the Rat creatures had made here. They were very well made, if a little low for his tastes. They also didn't use as much wood to hold it up as he would have thought.

He continued on until he found himself in a market. Huh. Interesting. So, he began to look at the items that were available, particularly for any interesting stones or rocks. Also, at how they constructed this larger cavern. Was it natural, or fully dug out?

He had to hunch a little to get through some of the tighter tunnels, but he seemed used to it. When he emerged into the larger cavern of the marketplace, he looked pleased, if still carrying a shadow of worry. He stood for a moment, out of the way, just taking in the sights and the smells, happy to be back among his people. Still, a scent that was strange reached his nose. Looking around, he spotted the Rokugani, lifting one hand in greeting, walking slowly towards him. "Kyosei is Name, yes?"

Kyosei blinked at seeing, again, the large Rat. "Yes, that is me. I am sorry, but I would rather that you repeat your name, than that I butcher it terribly."

[Ch'jak'matt]

"I am Ch'Jak'Matt." A grin. At least, it seemed a grin. Hard to tell with a rat's snout. "Is.....good-happy-pleasure to see again. Is good to be back among one-tribe. To see people, though danger hangs overhead always." A shake of his head. "You come look-seek goods from crafter-maker?"

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"Not my original intention, but since I'm here, sure? I started just looking at the tunnels. My normal existence is running a mine, so I was curious about how your people dug these originally."

[Ch'jak'matt]

"Hand and tooth. Nezumi strong digger. Even through soft stone." He bared his teeth, as of showing off how strong they were. "Build up over many generations. Carve out from earth itself."

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"I was impressed with how little you braced them with wood. Within the mine I oversee, we have to use wooden braces far more often to keep collapses from occurring." He gestures, to invite the larger being to join him as he peruses the stalls.

[Ch'jak'matt]

"Builder caste know stone well. Know how keep it strong, how stop from crumbling. Wood precious, used for other important things, so use other things in building cities." He gestured to the carved buttresses above them that held up the weight of the cavern. He paused to look through a stall that had various bits of jewelry, admiring the delicate work.

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

Kyosei looks over the jewelry, particularly anything red, orange, or green. Any chance there are jade stones here? He does keep an eye out for it.

"What shiny-shiny stone does Kyosei mine? What is made with shiny rock?" He looked interested, studying the rokugani, though he would squeek greetings to merchants and other nezumi as they wandered by. This was not his city, but it was known to him.

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"Well, any of this would be good," he says, holding up a piece of jade. "In my own mine, it's mostly silver, and a bit of bronze parts. Copper and tin, which melt to form bronze. Silver is good for decoration, trading, and purifying vessels for ceremonies."

[Ch'jak'matt]

He tapped his fingers against his arm, looking thoughtful. "Shiny-green rock is rare. Used often to fight big-scary-spirits that come from pit.... May be under control of chief...."

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

Kyosei nods. "I suppose that's to be expected. I also, personally, wouldn't mind something red or orange - they are the favorite colors of my mate. Something to bring back to her would be nice."

[Ch'jak'matt]

"Ah. Presents for mate. Always good-good" He gestured to the corner of the market that specialized in jewelry. "Maybe we find-find shiny to impress your mate and make them realize how much miss while you away."

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"Hmm. Yes. She is caring for our littles right now, so maybe something also for them, that can keep them busy for a while. They are young, 4, 3, and 1."

[Ch'jak'matt]

He gave a slight nod. Looking thoughtful, he pointed out a colorful ball at one of the stands, made from animal skins that had been tanned. "Perhaps for younglings? Own pups chased for many-many....what is no-fur word..." He furrowed his brow a moment. "Hour? For jewelry....red and orange gems are common. Maybe set in metal like orange flame that many human weapons are made from? Bronze you call?"

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"It is called bronze, true," Kyosei nodded. "She likes necklaces, or bracelets. Maybe something with pebbles in it, for a child to shake? Oh, or a smaller bracelet, for my little girl, so she can copy her mother."

[Ch'jak'matt]

A faint nod as he browsed the stalls of jewelry, looking thoughtful. "Less art making then before. Long-long fight. But still need beauty. Remind why fight-fight." He picked up a bracelet that was a ruddy red bronze with jaspers set into it, showing it to his companion.

[Kyosei of the Isawa]

"Hmm. Nice. Are there any smaller ones that are near matches? Or look like they might be ones that grow up into that?" His own searching has been less fruitful. Things here seem arranged, but in no order his comparatively nose-blind body can fathom.
