Nanzi nodded and said, “You did fine, even a mistake is a chance to grow for all of us. It is a new thing, it will take time.”

He then settled into his stance and slowed his breathing and focused just above the flame. He rested his hand just above the blade as he bent his leg slightly for stability. He felt the moment and then drew the bade, causing the flames to waver as he made his strike.

He remained a moment and then sheathed the blade and bowed.

“One must always have Courtesy to their opponent, real or imagined,” he said solemnly.

Kinsen nods with a good reply, as Hantei often does at home when she asks something out of him. "Hai!"

"It will take time, but it is my hope that it will be an honored form of dueling within the future Empire," he replied calmly.

"I am sure dear husband would appreciate the Stag using something quick and honorable to settle affairs that simple words find discordance. What about those that cannot use the blade, or do not know how?"

“Every clan should have bushi to defend their people and borders, the way of the sword should be common among many. As samurai are servants those that do not have the means to fight with the blade may choose a champion to act in their stead. This way those that do not wish to study the blade may focus on what they feel is best,” Nanzi replied.

“This is not unlike many tribes that choose a champion in lieu of their elders.”
