[D5 LA] See a dog about a disease

[Reo]

Reo stumbles and swears, plodding along with his walking stick. Some of these others had come back to camp with a story about a strange dog animal that was somehow...wrong. immediately, his thoughts had turned to the disease Reiko had warned of. It was early in the journey, and this might be the first signs of it. Reo approaches the corpse, preparing himself for the smell of decomposing flesh.

[Canary]

It was so much worse than that. The smell of a normal decomposing corpse was disgusting, but it was at least a grossness within the realm of nature. This smell was behind that, and seemed to permeate the immediate area.

The creature itself was monstrous to put it mildly. Its head was cut off, but its jaw bisected it into to parts. The mouth, full of teeth, continued three quarters of the way down the rest of the body. It was hairless and overgrown and eyes seemed to grow in strange places on it at random. The skin of its lower legs were eaten away, and a massive tentacle grew out of its lower side, near its stomach.

Its blood was black and noxious, viscous and oozing even now.

[Reo]

"Oh sweet mercy..." Reo raises an arm over his mouth but it's not enough as the smell makes him dry heave. He pants for a moment. "Well, nothing ventured nothing gained."

Expecting a mess, he strips down to the essentials before pulling out a knife, a tanto and a handful of arrows. He begins trying to dress the animal like game, trying to isolate body parts to see the effect. This is hampered by the fact that the body is all wrong. He starts to pin the hide to the ground, attempting to see the effects on muscle groups and this black ichor blood

[Canary]

TN 10 Earth roll to avoid taint by proximity.

The muscles seem distorted and overgrown in strange ways, with black pustules along them. Extreme care must be taken to avoid them and getting the fluids within on you.

TN 20 Hunting roll to properly dress the creature.

[Reo]

Reo carefully begins to bring the knife along the flesh. The smell is noxious, a combination of the stink of disease mixed with shit and rotting flesh.

Reo eyes the tentacle, curious about the muscle mass, carefully probing the different type of flesh, trying to remove it as part of the dressing but it doesn't go well...

[Canary]

One of the pustuals bursts, splattering the black ichor across his face.

[Reo]

Reo swears, wiping the mess off of his face and pulling out the Jade Reiko had helped with earlier.

"I hope this stuff works. So, dressing is out. Can I tell anything about the body?"

He examines the flesh, already brutalized to look anything close to a sickness that he understands, something to be a frame of reference.
