[D5: LM: Expecting] Shells and bones

[Inga]

Inga decided to update her divination kit and try and find some new bones or sticks perhaps a shell. Perhaps even try the new things out, she had collected some on the forest on the north. Tired of looking, she took a seat on a trunk.

[Jiyo Ayumu]

If meat definitely wasn't going to be a problem with how eager the various hunters of the expedition were, fresh greenery wasn't as abundant, so Ayumu went into the wild to harvest some. So far, he had be only moderately successful in his quest, but the day was still young. Maybe behind this next bush?

He crossed the plant curtain. And found himself facing Inga.

[Inga]

Inga heard a rustling in the bush behind her and she readied her knife. She saw the skeletal face of Ayumu and she was surprised. "Eeeep! Ayumu...of the Jiyo? You surprised me." She quickly put the knife away.

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"Hello Inga. Same, didn't expect to see you here and there. What brings you to the woods on this cold morning?"

As for himself, he showed the poor harvest of edible plants in his hand.

[Inga]

Inga straighten. "I was looking for divination things and maybe an herb or two for the medicine kit." She smiles. "Seems you have been foraging."

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"Indeed. Not my best collection though. I'm even wondering if my heart truly was into it. Maybe I just wanted a good excuse to leave the camp for a moment.

What kind of divination things did you hope to find there?"

[Inga]

"Shells, sticks and bones... perhaps a root or vine." She smiled. "I had gathered some up in the north forest we passed a few days ago. Perhaps a memento for the trip south." She looked at the bushel. "If you need help gathering edible plants I can help."

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"As you see fit. What do you think the caravan needs the most at the moment actually? Food? Medicine? Spiritual guidance?"

[Inga]

"A little bit of all." Inga smiled. "If it continues to get colder south... which is weird. we might even need more fire wood."

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"That's actually a pretty good idea. You're probably a better forager that farmer me, so I'll follow your lead."

[Inga]

"But before we go... I need to test the things I found in the north. Since we don't know what we might encounter around... and a promise is a promise, right?" She took out her divination kit.

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"Uh? Oh. Sure. What do you need me to do?"

[Inga]

"Just pick up these and think of a question." She motioned to the assorted items on the rag she just presented. "Imbue them with you spirit and toss them on to the rag." The rag had lines and symbols representing different quadrants of the human soul.

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"Can I say the question aloud just to show I have no secret, or would it break the magic?"

[Inga]

"I have no problem with you telling me the question as long as you can keep it in mind to imbue the items." Inga nodded.

[Jiyo Ayumu]

Ayumu took some time to think about a question. Some quirky ones came to his mind, but in the end, he decided to play it quite safe:

"What is the greatest danger we will have to face before the end of this expedition?"

[Inga]

Inga blinked a few times. "Name?... My name? Your name?" She looked at Ayumu. "Does your name have a meaning?"

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"It's an archaic world for dreamwalker. A fancy jab at my head being a bit too often in the stars and not enough down to earth.

Could the spirits be using an image there? Like the worst danger you may face is yourself? I think Kinsen told me something alongside those lines too."

Eyeing her unease:

"Is it the first time you get a prediction so ominous?"

[Inga]

"Yeah... one of fog and illusion... This one baffles me." She sighed. "It will eventually come to me."

[Jiyo Ayumu]

"You seem..."

Ayumu wasn't exactly sure what she seemed. But not her normal self. Or at least, not the normal self he had experienced so far.

"Maybe we should focus on gathering some good wood for now, as dry as we can find it?"
