"Weather is a lot less of a concern when you're not living out in the wild alone. I don't think I'd make my choice based on anything other than the people. If I don't have to trudge through it for hours or sleep in it, the snow isn't so bad," he says with a smirk. "Being in a warmer climate just lets me move easier which is a lot more important when you're alone."

"But you say you haven't been east or west? So you haven't been to the coast?"

"Never been, no. I mean, I traveled west after I got to a river south of the spine of the world, but when I got to the Shinomen I followed it south again. Different game trails led me on that path," he explains. "But never been further west than the Seidou lands."

"I've only been the once, myself. Up in Isawa lands, it blows cold all year, but I've been told that not too far from where the little gods fell, it blows a little warm all year. Salty, though."

"Living on a coast might be nice for fishing. Though I've never been much of a fisherman myself. I usually just use fish baskets if I spend a day or two near a stream or river."

"I know how to fish, of course, but mostly just use a line and hook. Sometimes a net, but that's rare."

"Can't keep hooks long enough for them to be useful when your out for months or years at a time. The basket is the easiest way to go. Set it, put some bait in, check it the next day."

"Fair enough. I suppose all your methods would be best used as efficiently as possible for one person."

"Survival needs things to use less energy. It's important not to waste too much out there," he says with a nod. "That way, when you run into trouble you got reserves to keep you going."

Kyosei looks up from his seated position to the standing man, already among the largest in the caravan. "I think you have lots of reserves."

"Been building them for years. Never be unprepared!" he says with a laugh.

"As good as it is to talk to you, I think we both have something we should be doing." He nods, then rasps his tool across the large stone.

"You too," he says with a nod before returning to his rounds.
