Heavenfall

Mai sat just outside her tent with a blanket wrapped around her. Working away on a wooden Aiguchi that seemed to be taking a painfully long time, she still made progress none the less. She wondered if she would find a good owner for the knife soon. The notches for the shark teeth were already shaped.

Walking around the camp was a certain Kanna. It seemed, at least, that even out here she wasn't completely attached to Reiko's tent. And then a smile crossed her face as she happened to notice Mai at her tent. The Spider approached, giving a lazy salute. "Mai! I didn't get a chance to thank ya proper for dinner. It was real tasty."

"Ah! Kanna! Come, sit! I am glad I got to make us a decent dinner before we got too far into this area." She gestured around her. "I imagine swamp fish aren't too tasty."

"I am working on a shark tooth Aiguchi. It should be done this evening. I need to find a proper owner for it."

Kanna sat next to Mai, looking towards the aiguchi curiously. "It's a hell of a knife. I ain't much for small weapons like that, so it'd be wasted on me. Maybe lil Ninube would like it." She considered for a moment. "Or maybe we can give it teh Matsu. Though she might think we were makin' a joke about her bein' a kid and get mad."

"I have heard Matsu is pretty tough for a kid. Maybe the teeth will convince her it is a good weapon. Nice at tearing chunks out of people. I mean it is a bit longer than most Aiguchi. Can she handle bigger weapons yet? I have a good feeling this one has serious potential."

"Ye'd wanna ask Old Man Yama about her training. I think I've seen her trainin' with wooden swords that are about as heavy as a normal one, but I'd not speak personally to her experiences. Just her temper. She's got fire in her belly like no one would believe."

"Alright, I will ask. I will also ask her directly. Maybe that will help her feel less like we are picking on her, and more like a proper warrior."

"That's a much better idea," she grinned and nodded. "I should find a way to repay you the meal, but..." she tapped her chin. "I have no idea what such a repayment might look like..."

"No need. As I said, on this journey, such food may be few and far between. Life is best enjoyed when you can."

"I suppose." She smirked a bit. "Yeah, you're right. Less time worryin' about who owes who what, more time enjoying the time we get together, eh?"

Mai smiled meaningfully, "I rather enjoy our time together."

"Same," she nodded, her smile becoming more warm. "You're pretty great to be around."

"You are always welcome to come join me in my tent."

"That there," her smile widened. "Is an offer I am glad to take."

"I mean, it is pretty tight in there, but you are welcome in."

"I don't take up that much space," she responded with a mild laugh. "And I certainly don't mind a tight fit."

"I didn't mean to imply you take too much space."

Kanna stopped and blinked a moment. Then laughed. "I wasn't takin' it that way. Just a shitty joke on my part, please forgive my bad phrasing."

"Perhaps we should test the fit now?" She nodded at the tent and allowed herself the smallest of smiles.

"Fine by me," Kanna grinned, standing up in response. "Lead the way."
