[D3 LA] Can Always Use More Meat

Taochusu stood just out of earshot of the camp as he waited on anyone that wanted to join him. More fresh meat was always a good thing and he wanted to continue collecting supplies, since some folks said that there wasn't necessarily going to be game available when they got closer to their destination. He was squatting near a tree and checking his yumi while he waited.

"Uh" Xia had approached the large warrior and now seemed somewhat unsure of how to introduce herself
"You're um, looking to do some hunting, right? I can come, if you want. I don't hunt much, but you probably hunt a lot, so it sort of balances out, I think."

He nods, not moving from his spot. "Yeah. Got a good bit of experience though no real training. Just going to see if we can't get some extra food supplies for the group. I'm used to doing it alone, but it's dangerous that way so no point in going alone when you don't have to."

"Well" Looking the much larger Rokugani over "I guess I could protect you while you hunted? I have a club and I know my animals well enough. That and there might be nezumi or ogres or worse out there."

He nods at that. "And if we run into a bear, you want a group if you plan on taking it down. Bow isn't going to do the trick against them."

"I'm sure if we just avoid their dens we'll be fine...unless southern bears are particularly aggressive."
Suddenly more interested
"Maybe southern bears are far more dangerous? Maybe I'll be one of the first of our people to document them trying to maul someone?"

[Taochusu]

"No clue. Maybe they are. Maybe they don't have dens like northern bears and just wander around wherever they want and sleep wherever they want." He says with a shrug, smirking at that.

"Well, I think it might just be us. Ready?"

[Anjing Xia]

"Let's do it! Time to go hunt....whatever we find!"

[Taochusu]

Taouchusu finally stands to his full height, and readies an arrow. Taking point, he moves with a stealthy purpose for a bit away from the camp before starting to look for signs of animals passing.

Xia grabs her camouflage box and carefully puts it on before following Taochusu out into the forest.

Xia and Taochusu spot a pair of ring-necked pheasants foraging a short distance away.

Nodding, the big man takes a moment to try to gauge which is lager. When he makes a decision he gently draws his yumi and takes aim. Noting any wind or branches in the potential arc of the arrow, he adjusts before loosing.

And on the off chance these pheasants are particularly slow and stupid, Xia will try to hit the other with her club after Taochusu's shot.

The shot makes the other run away in a panic. One largeish pheasant gained!

He then looked around to see if this was a nest and whether there were any eggs available.

Like any good Crab, Xia approves of anything which puts meat on the table.
"If they were nesting around here it'll probably be under something pretty dense."
She starts sticking her head into bushes.

Xia considered how to fit the epic tale of the pheasant hunt into the history of the expedition.

"Either way, it will eventually be tasty."

"It's just nature. Everything's gotta eat," he says with a chuckle. "I never really try to give too much meaning to stuff like that."
