Using the tines of a fleshcutting arrow, Reo tries to lift the latch and open the box

It creaks and the rusted hinges groan. The box's lid opens a little, but the arrow bends dangerously. It will likely break before the box will open fully.

Reo stops, noticing the bend in the arrow. The tines fit, but the weight was too much. Reo thinks for a moment, sliding his bow perpendicular under the center of the shaft, where the greatest amount of weight would rest on the bow. He adds a Willow Leaf on each end of the flesh cutter, stepping to the side to be out of a direct line of a trap.

Hopefully that redistributes the weight so the thinner shafts don't take all the tension

His ad hoc reinforcement in place, Reo lift the bow, hoping that it's enough

The box finally creaks and groans its way open, the rusty metal complaining about being forced to move again.

Inside are, first of all, arrows. Steel tipped and built for somewhat longer arms than you have, as well as a few tools for repairing bows. There is also come non-perishable food, including a couple of carefully tied bags of dried food and a couple of slightly heavy ceramic pots. A check under the lid reveals the scent of some sort of highly spiced pickled food.

"Hmmm." Reo slides the arrows into his quiver and the tools into his pack.

"It looks like there is some food too." He gestures to the others.

"I know...I don't think my bow can take them. I wonder what they were built for." Reo sits and thinks, holding up one of the arrows to the light as he studies it.

Once they all make it safely up, Satone observes the chest with curiosity, eyeing its contents.

"A chest, filled with large arrows and foodstuffs" she says to Haruyo.

"More concerning though, is who they belong to, and if we have robbed them of something valuable. Or if they return and think us foes."

She addressed to all.

"The tips are interesting. I bet they penetrate deep." Reo looks up.

"Sadone, do you think you could make a bow that could handle this?"

Satone eyes the arrows and thinks for a bit.

"Possibly, though it would take some time and require a lot of different resources that may be difficult to find."

"I'm in no rush. I know how long it took to make mine. I never guessed it would be so-" Reo pauses, searching for the right word.

"Inadequate"

"You're seems just fine. These arrows look to be made for something bigger than us. Likely anything I were to craft wouldn't be used in a traditional sense, since no one would be able to draw it properly."

Haruyo, sat inside the building and wondered for a moment what purpose she might yet serve up here. That was, until her attention to the conversation bore fruit. "Perhaps," she said, with a pause inspiring some attention be directed her way, "you might ask the Nezumi."

"Mm, good idea. Do you sense anything here with your abilities, Haruyo?"

Satone stood close to the woman to keep her from walking off the edge accidentally

"There's a stone marker not scheesh far from here." Hanzou tried to see if he could spot it. "Apperently, it was left choooth by ancient races who waged a great war long ago. Maybe, ckachak this was theirs."
