After a long day of marching, the sun begins to rise over the mountains, with the barest few golden rays beginning to creep their way over the distant peaks. It would be a uniquely lovely day, if not for the unusual muffled thumping noise coming from somewhere nearby.
Indeed it would be a lovely day, but noises began to bother Kakuro. They are pretty quiet, almost as a whisper, yet he can still heard them. Having a bit of experience with religion and spirits on the past, the Doji does not freak out, thinking that maybe some sort of spirit could been in the nearby.

He moves away from his tent and moves towards what he thinks is the source....

Initially, pinning down the noise is difficult, as it only appears erratically, a quick rustle and thump followed by silence. However, with time, Kakuro is able to discover the general direction of the noise, which seems to be coming from the vicinity of his belongings.

That was strange. He didn't have much personal things other than his clothing, pipe, his hemp herb, etc. In any case, he approaches and take a look around to see, what is this all about...

Of his meager possessions, it's the container housing the herb that appears to be the culprit, comfirmed as another thump sounds, complete with a visual jump as something strikes the interior.

Kakuro reaches for the herb's container. Clearly something was inside, or seem to be inside. He opened it...

Inside the container was a shadow, which gradually shifted towards the mouth, revealing...

A very confused looking crow. Said crow reached the lip of the container not by walking, but by rolling, an act which caused the creature to pop out and fall in a lazy spiral to the ground below.

If the fall had been painful, it didn't show, as the crow's tiny legs began bouncing rapidly, the motion it most commonly used to travel across the ground.

Problem was, he was upside down...

'' What...'' To say that Kakuro was surprised was a understatement.

He observed the shadow-crow, trying to see if it was the same crow that the person known as Shinsei was carrying. Whatt was for certain is that it was not a common crow. Also a drugged shadow-crow-spirit so it seems-

'' Karasu?...'' He asked.

"Wac?"

The bird seemed to respond to the name, though the sound it made was clearly one of disorientation. Close inspection did seem to match the creature with Shinsei's companion, though.

After a prodigious effort, the bird righted itself, shook his feathers out, then lifted his wings.

He immediately fell on his face as he tried to jump, but failed to coordinate his limbs properly. His wings came down very slowly.

Then lifted again.

And back down again. All with the same slow, deliberate, unsuitable for flight speed.

'' Well that is a side effect of these herbs...'' He commented to the shadow-crow-spirit. '' Now you learned, i suppose ''

Kakuro didn't mind that the crow was chewing or eating his supply. What interested him more was the nature of the crow. It was clearly not a animal from this world.

Whatever manner of beast the crow may or may not be, it was now trying to flatten itself to the ground and crawl to the exit flap of the tent, but couldn't manage a straight line. Amusingly, it's tail feathers tilted whenever it started to change direction.

'' Huh...'' Kakuro managed to say. This whole situation was way ridiculous, maybe some prank from the realm of Prankster spirits. He was not sure, and his knowledge about prankster spirits was basic at most.

'' Do you need help, Karasu-san?'' He asked to the spirit-shadow crow.

The bird attempts to respond, but what comes out of its beak is less of a standard crow call and more like a low, distorted belching sound. His head swivels slowly towards Kakuro, and two beady black eyes blink slowly in his direction, though they seem to be having trouble synchronizing their movements.

Kakuro had some sort of spiritual connection to animals, but he didn't think this was an animal at all. More like a spirit or even something else so he didn't know how to help the crow.

If it was a human it would be far more easier since he knows the side-effects of these particular herbs. He uses them to calm his 'visions' that sometimes come and go. These 'vision' usually are painful and drop him to the floor, unable to move, his body not answering him.
