Heavenfall

It must be getting bad again, Taiko thought to himself as he just plastered on a smile and nodded. "You know if you need it I'm here for you Mai."

As she squeezed his hand back, Taiko just placed his other on top, patting Mai comfortingly.

"Same ones as always?" He asks tenderly.

She hesitated, "yeah. A land of death and terrors that escape explanation. They are getting more urgent somehow. As if someone needs help but I can never find them or get to them."

She allowed him to hold her hand for a while, enjoying the warmth. "It isn't the full moon tonight, either. If that worries you on sharing."

"At least you haven't turned to other crutches and vices to solve your problems." Taiko offers with a smile. "And you know the moon doesn't cause worry for me, but it's good to know, so that I can be prepared."

"She still doesn't like you, you know." He adds simply. "And she's getting louder and more insistent as I get older. But this Clan, we're family we help each other, right."

"No vices to speak of yet, no. Unless you count my lack of tradition." She indicated the weapon she was working on. "Let's see where I end up this time."

"Unfortunately, I don't know how to get her to trust me more. Wish there was something I could do. Maybe Nazo has some idea." A short pause and a bit of a flush, "I'll always be here for you, Taiko."

"I hope it's enough, for now, that I trust you Mai. But yeah, maybe Nazo has some idea how to appease her. I like her being part of me, but I don't think she's too pleased with the arrangement."

Taiko notices the flush and grins stupidly.

"We're here for each other. I haven't seen any others of our people here, so we'll have to watch each others backs. Business as usual huh?"

"I don't know how much say she has in the matter. Though, I really don't know much about what options you two have."

"Always! Though now we are done eating, it is back to work with you!" She sat to continue work on the carving. Carefully she began smoothing the lines of the weapon.

Smushing a handful of rice into a ball shape for later, he tucked the resulting dense blob into one of his cleaner pockets.

"Hai, more work, less talk." Taiko agreed before beginning to smooth the burrs from the edges of the spear tip he'd been working on.
