Heavenfall

"That is... horrifying."

Ryoko felt tingles up and down her spine.

"I don't want to imagine that. I'd be happy to find no more strange beasts this journey, unlikely though that may be..."-

"They are only strange because bath woman has not seen them before. The Shoji would likely consider ogres strange and horrifying, but they are normal to bath women's people."

Haka shrugs.

"I... suppose."

She shivered. "I'm not very good with small spiders, much less big ones. I try not to be troubled, but it's hard."

"Just do not get caught in a web," Haka teases.

"I... I'll try."

Ryoko found that somewhat ominious, but maybe it was... a joke? If not, it was good advice, she supposed.

"Well... is there anything you hope we find.... or did you want to find giant flies?"

"That would be interesting," she admits. "This one is looking forward to meeting a fallen god. That will be a new experience."

"Yes, I suppose it will. I wonder how different he is from these others."

With a faint sigh, she added, "I just hope he is still there to rescue."

"If not, then we get to fight a fallen god! Also exciting."

Haka grins widely.

"That's... one way of looking at it."

Ryoko laughed, and added, "You sure have a sense of adventure - I'm not so sure that forest of yours will be exciting enough for you, once this is over."

"Perhaps not," she admits, her brow furrowing in concern. "It is something this one has considered. After spending so much time with others, the thought of going back to living in relative solitude for another ten years is not appealing."

"Ah. Well, you shouldn't feel like that's your only option."

Ryoko glanced about, and added, "I'm sure there are many tribes, or even clans, that would appreciate someone who knew how to protect them from angry ghosts."

"Perhaps." There's a noncommital shrug. "It shall be seen what happens when the expedition has ended. It is still possible that this will will perish before that becomes an issue, after all."

"It's possible we all might."

Ryoko shrugged, and added, dryly, "Still... it is good to envision the possibilities, even if none ultimately come to be. I'm glad you aren't going back to be... wedged... I think you called it."

"Probably not. The future had a way of surprising those who make plans." Haka stands and stretches. "Thank you for the conversation. This one hopes that bath woman survives.'

"Of course... you as well."

Ryoko chuckled.

"I'll do my best."
