The shrine that Dawei had helped Jiyo Ayumu build had been placed near the tent, now empty, of the purported wisest person in the party. Looking on it brought a certain amount of inner peace, eased consideration, and Dawei had somewhat to consider.

Kaze's words.

His own strange work with the figure of the Nezumi in his hand.

And, as he sat before the Shrine and looked at the figure, he said "It doesn't look like Ch'chit T'kkiri," stumbling slightly over the pronunciation of the name of the one Nezumi with whom he had spoken--not entirely pleasantly, in the event.

At the utterance of the name the carving, at least to Dawei's eye, seems to shiver in place, and suddenly looks like a realistic interpretation of Ch'chit T'kkiri.

"Nani?"

Dawei brings the figurine closer to his face.

"I didn't carve this."

A voice came to Dawei's mind:

Hear something?

Dawei hears the voice, almost sees the figurine's lips move.

"I know your voice. Why do you sound like Ch'chit T'kkiri?"

He looks about, seeing if the Nezumi is there. Seeing none, he adds "What sorcery is this?"

Dawei gives a puff of laughter.

"That would be why you sound like him, then. If you are him and not a trick this strange place is playing."

He takes his jade, presses it to the figurine, sees no sign of strangeness other than the speaking in his mind.

"But if you are not a trick, and you are who you claim to be, then you will recall who you told would need a bigger knife ten days ago."

Well, that helps, he thinks.

"I'm sitting before Shinsei's tent and the shrine. But I'm not sure how we are speaking now.

"Where are you?"

"Not so far as I know, no. Never have before that I know of.

"Have you?"

"I have met Sora. I will be there presently."

And, so saying, he heads there with the kindly permission of the resplendent GMs.
