Heavenfall

Hanzou approached the tent, looking around. "Hello? Are vreek you here?"

At the familiar voice, a black shadow appeared at the top of the tent, looked down, then rolled down the angled cloth until it landed by the entrance flap, looking up and tilting its head to one side.

"Caw?"

"There you scret are." Hanzou reached into a pouch and pulled out a dried plum. "I don't have chireet many left, but I'll find another treat for you."

Karasu cawed happily, staring in on the plum just as a hooded figure appeared a short distance away, traveling from somewhere further in the camp. The man paused when he saw someone there, handing what appeared to be a plum over to the bird.

Shinsei just shook his head and sighed. "So that's where all my dried plums went. You try our friendship greatly, Karasu."

"I warned kree him not to take mine all at once." Hanzou chuckled.

"So instead he took all of mine. A lesson, young one, about the need for clear guidelines perhaps?" The man seemed more amused by the ordeal than anything. "I take it you've met him before."

"A couple of creech days ago." he nodded. "I was studying an old stone marker, threest with someone else."

"I have heard of this marker already. It caused quite the stir within the camp."

"I know Jin was going crict to report what he'd learned." He still held out the dried plum. "I'm wondering if we'll find more."

"Who's to say? I seems such things are placed in our path by forces greater than ourselves."

"My teacher has chiik told me that there is much to learn from the past. I'm not seent sure what we can learn from the stone, however, other than that there was a conflict here before." he shrugged. "Hopefully, we can chrit learn more about that."

"It would certainly be something worth learning. Preparations must be made if we're to go to war with any hope of victory."

"We found an old outpost with arrows kleeeet larger than a man could use and the stone was not left by man. A know some things about spirits streerst, but I don't know what other creatures may have been here." he said.

"We are not the first of this world and will likely not be the last. Did the arrows appear new, or aged?"

"Certainly raisss not." he agreed. "The outpost appeared to be long striick abandoned, but everything was still in good condition. They were chict metal."

"Metal? Are you saying the arrows were made of metal?"

He shook his head. "Sorry, I meant hreesst the heads. They were steel shrittt tipped and very long."

He stretched his arms to show the length.

"The further we advance, the more behind we become." Shinsei shook his head slowly, wondering how older races could be so much better equipped to deal with their problems than their successors.

"I imagine it's that way with screech many things." Hanzou shrugged. "The koumori likely know more about the spirit realms than most, but chitch I've been told there are other races that surpass their experience. At the same time, many spirits from other realms are kreent fascinated by humans and the things they've done."

"It's simply what happens when people become distant, either by time or actual location. Everything starts to develop differently, and we're left to rediscover things which were already known."
