Heavenfall

"Is good-good to know-know," Ik'tch'krit affirmed. He swung his contraption again at the tree and then growled out of annoyance. "I do not think-believe arrow with rope-rope tied to end-end would work-work."

The Nezumi scratched his whiskers. "It protect man-things like jade-stone does? I hear-hear jade-stone also hurt-harm bad-things. Why I craft-make weapon to reuse."

"Was-was mighty and pretty, much like shiny-shines," he mused, his tail now tapping uncontrollably to pleasant memories. But then he frowned. "Everything change-changed when Heavenfall happen. Now is not good-good."

"Shamans harness the-the power of names," he explained, this time leaving out the repetition for the human. He poked his own chest and continued, "I am Ik'tch'krit! Good-good name, yes-yes. Use willpower to change real-real itself!"

The Nezumi tapped his feet in thought. "Reality itself!"

"Jade-stone must be made not-soft then," Ik'tch'krit enthused with a few nods. "Or maybe power still work-work inside a harder-hard shell."

He then tilted his head. "What is obsidian?"

"No-no, jade-stone too precious to use-use for experiments. Is just-just," he trailed off, looking for the right human word. "Thing before thing-thing!"

He scratched his whiskers. "Is no good-good yet. Bow much better weapon in most cases. Jade too precious to make-make arrow out of."

"We has name-name magic. Different from man-things." He frowned and then put away the knife. His smile was back, though, wien he looked back to his, at least temporarily, real jade.

"Man-things lucky to have this power. I do not think-believe name-name magic can harness the-the power of jade-stone!"

"Jade-stone must be retrieved!" he hollered. He brought the stone back to him and sighed. "Maybe rope is not good-good for this."

Ik'tch'krit had fashioned a crude weapon out of both rope and a common stone instead of the precious jade. "Can all man-things do-do this?" he asked, "Can Nezumi?" He pulled out a knife held it to his arm anyways, before getting an answer.

"Maybe man-thing can make-create weapon with jade-stone that go away-way after hit-strike bad-things."

"Shall we-we go outside and draw-draw this?" he suggested. He looked to his tail and frowned; having a prehensile one would have been useful indeed!

The Nezumi ran forward to where the jade light had struck, trying to dig for any remains. "Man-thing did it!" he exclaimed, sniffing at the ground afterwards. "Why it go away-way?"

He scratched at the ground more and then chittered in annoyance. "Man-thing ever try-try with jade-stone before?"

"So rumors were truly-true! Man-things can call upon the-the power!" The Nezumi then scratched his whiskers. "But-but is not with jade-stone?"

He then nodded and caressed the jade. "Yes-yes, prettiest of shiny-shines!"

"I am no-no sorcerer. Do I need-need that to use jade-stone?" He frowned and looked at the stone. There had to be some way to use it better. "I do not know-know where man-things get jade-stone! "Yes-yes! Need stuff to make more stuff!" The Nezumi scratched his chin at the human's suggestion. After some long deliberation, he nodded. "Yes-yes, man-thing can help-aid me-me!"

Ik'tch'krit tilted his head. "Attack is done-done, I clearly-clear not here to hurt-harm man-things." He scratched his whiskers a bit, a bit of a nervous tic. "I must harness the-the power of this jade stone. Is magic if can protect man-things so well-well!"

"This is only shape-shape of mine-mine," Ik'tch'krit proclaimed, "Nezumi are no-like those species."

He tilted his head at the other human. "Greetings, other man-thing! You-you can explain so no confusion happen here-here?"

"Man-thing! I did not see-see you there-there!" He held up his hands, including the precious jade-stone. "No mean threat to hurt-harm man-thing!"

The Nezumi tilted his head at the human interaction. But it was not so important to him. There were experiments to be made and thought of, especially with the short amount of time he had with this jade.
