Heavenfall

"It might make it less dangerous," she laughs. The knife is drawn across her arm, and she holds it out, letting the blood stream down her hand and fingers. Before the drops can hit the ground, however, a swirling mass of skeletal claws and faces materializes beside her, snatching up every drop in it...

She shakes her head. "When one dies, they linger as a ghost. That is all the future holds. One day, the world will be nothing but the unquiet dead, and there will be no more room for the living."

"Then we die, and a few years later, everyone else dies." Haka didnt seem overly concerned. "Maybe the birds build the next civilization, who knows?"

"Hmm.... she should probably do that." Haka sighs as she sits up and draws a knife from her skirt. "Wouldn't want it gobbling up all stuff caught in the spiderwebs, if this talk of infectious evil is true."

Haka waves a hand dismissively in the air. "This one will be fine. She does not need watching over. Phi can do what she wants."

"If they do not, then the doorway will open and the hungry ghosts will flood over the world devouring everyone. So... this one assumes they will. Or the Shoji will just keep doing it anyways."

Haka shrugs. "It is like possession, this one suspects. One does not know when a ghost is possessing them, it just... happens. And then the possessed is coming at you, trying to gnaw off your face."

"It varies. The last one wasn't very willing, from what this one remembers." Haka scrunches up her nose. "This one left to avoid becoming a Kusabi. It is not a comfortable death."

"This one has to be somewhere," she replies, fidgiting at the pokes. "It was quiet and peaceful."

Haka makes a faint sound at the poke. "Probably," she says, eyes still closed.

"Maybe they would explode?"

Don't know where to be or what to do?

Come hang out with Haka in the Early Afternoon! She's not doing anything anyways.

Haka had decided to take a rest on one of the large stone slabs near a half-broken circular gateway... thing. She was fully stretched out on the slab, arms folded underneath her head, eyes closed as she hums softly to herself.

"Human." Haka grips one of the stick figures in her hand. "One touched by the spirits is ritually suffocated by the other shamans, and the sacred ropes absorb their soul and last breath. Then those ropes are used to seal the gateway for ten years, when a new sacrifice is needed."

Like 2 responses all afternoon, then 2 pages in a half hour on that Meeting thread. Large thread's are large. Maybe I should duck out.

*lunges out of hiding hole, grabs Umeno, drags off into darkness*

Haka holds out her hand. "This one suggests that we all leave quickly."

"This one has warded some of the sticky things," she says, gesturing behind her. "It should be good until morning."

"It is dead now," Haka says with a shrug. "It is best not to worry about whether it was a just kill or not. Let us just move away quickly before its vengeful ghost rises from its corpse and tries to devour our souls."

She pauses for a moment. "Which way is camp?"

Let's do it.

Haka holds her hands up as they heal, then lowers them.

"It did not seem to be suffering very much before this group started killing it," she points out.
